Guide
How to create a wedding website for a multi-day Indian wedding
1. List every function first
Write down each function with date, start time, venue and who is invited. Indian weddings often have three to six: for example Mehendi, Haldi, Sangeet, the wedding and the Reception, or Aiburobhat, Gaye Holud, the Biye and Bou Bhaat.
2. Decide your guest groups
Not everyone comes to everything. Group guests (close family, extended family, friends, colleagues) and note which functions each group should see.
3. Give every function its own card
Each card needs time, venue, a map link that opens to the right gate, a dress note and anything guests should bring. Put the muhurat time on the main ceremony so people arrive on time.
4. Add the practical tools
- Add to calendar for every function.
- A countdown to the main ceremony.
- An RSVP with the number of guests, so caterers get a count.
- Contacts for the day: someone guests can call for directions.
5. Add what makes it yours
Your story, a few photos, your song and your pre-wedding film turn a schedule into something people want to open.
6. Test it on an older phone
Open it on a parent's phone over mobile data. If it's slow or the text is small there, fix it before sending.
Prefer not to build it yourself? InviteKatha makes it for you.
Questions
How early should we send it?
Send a Save the Date two to three months ahead for out-of-town guests, and the full invitation four to six weeks before the first function.
